Lost Future is a Secondary Quest in The Wild Eight and is made available once it has been unlocked by discovering the New Future settlement. It can be accessed via the Journal in game.
Description[]
You found a man-made settlement in which people used to live. Find out why it was abandoned.

- Enter the abandoned settlement
- Explore the buildings in the settlements
- Find out what is inside the strange garage
- Kill Isaac
Rewards[]
Carrot Seeds can be found near this quest on a table and can be obtainable without killing Isaac.

Letter to Joanne[]
- This note is found on a desk in the southeastern building of the New Future settlement.
"Joanna, this time it seems like I got lucky. I found a settlement called New Future. It's run by one of the VAPOR-3 scientists. There are seven of us, at least for now. We've been working together, gathering food and setting things up. But we also have another goal: to help this scientist named Isaac finish his time machine prototype. He says that, using a portal crystal, we will be able to go back in time to prevent the disaster. We believe him. You should have seen his garage - it's equipped like some kind of laboratory. Maybe... maybe this technology is real... Maybe I can save you..."

- This note is found on the floor of the northeastern building of the New Future settlement.
"We've come to an abandoned settlement that we have since determined was called New Future. It's rather far from the base. We haven't seen anyone anywhere, not even corpses, just blood all over the place and devastation. We would have left immediately, but Todd picked up movement on his scanner somewhere in a large garage. He headed over there to check it out. All in all, this settlement can be considered uninha- *text ends abruptly*"
Nurse's Diary[]
- This note is found on a desk in the back of the northwestern building of the New Future settlement.
"I'm worried about Isaac. He almost never comes out of the garage, he eats separately from everyone else, and he doesn't talk to anyone, not even me. When I told him he wasn't looking well he just blew me off, and when I tried to touch his forehead to check his temperature he knocked my hand away. I hope it isn't because of his research. I can see people loosing hope when they look at Isaac, but I will never give up on him."
Settler's Diary, Last Entry[]
- This note is found on a desk in the back of the southwestern building of the New Future settlement.
"I just saw something horrible near Isaac's garage... It looked at me... and then it hid inside. Ever since Isaac disappeared, things have been getting worse and worse, and now it feels like living here isn't safe at all. My gut is telling me to leave. Tomorrow..."
Scientist's Diary, Last Entry[]
- This note is found on a desk in the garage (the western most building of the New Future settlement).
"I think I've failed. I won't be able to finish what I've started. I don't know how to explain this to the people who live here. In fact, I don't think I even have the strength to do it. I don't take my clothes off so no one can see my skin. I can't even go in public without a helmet on anymore. Everyone suspects... that something is wrong and has been for a long time. My research will be lost oblivion, as will I and all these poor people. I've decided to hide from everyone because I can feel my sanity slipping away. It must be the effect of the local radiation. This is the last research project I will ever undertake."
